Baby Boogie

Baby Boogie – This is not your usual baby sensory class.

Connect with your baby through movement while babywearing your little one. Our Baby Boogie class promises smiles, laughs and loads of good vibes. This class is a great way to introduce your child to the wonderful world of dancing. You don’t need to have any experience.

Baby Boogie is a 30 minute dance class on Thursdays at 11am for parents and guardians with baby in tow – playlist designed with grown-ups in mind. Adults and little people get to socialize, have fun, and most importantly, bond in a new and exciting way for both. Plus you get a gentle, low- impact workout in the mix.

Our sessions will help you rebuild posture, breathing, core-strength and self-confidence while dancing with the beat. We could also tell you that dancing will do all of this:

  • Cardio Exercise
  • Strength training
  • Calorie burning
  • Build coordination, balance and memory

And all of that would be true. But this is not a fitness class. Really all you need to know is that it will be easy and fun. So get ready to dance your socks off with your baby in our Baby Boogie class.

Babies will love the class too. They’ll enjoy the different rhythms and the bouncing movement and you may find that it’s hard to keep them awake for the duration of the class.

The gentle bouncing effect of dancing while holding baby in the carrier will sooth and calm baby. You might even find your new moves come in handy at 3am! We aim to build a positive and inclusive environment where you are free to take care of your baby as necessary. We’ll be open from 15 minutes before the class if you wish to arrive early and feed or change baby before we start.

Our Thursday morning class will be led by our talented teacher Carol aka Nana Sparkles!

Carol has decades of experience teaching dance to children and adults of all ages, and as a new grandmother, she’s very excited to get new parents/carers and babies in on the fun.

She’s not a regular grandma, she’s a cool grandma.

Who is it for? Mums, dads, grandparents, guardians of all kinds and their babies.

Do I need to be fit to join this class? No! It’s an active class, not a fitness class. We do ask that you have passed postnatal checks where relevant. If you’ve had a C-section, please wait until you are 12 weeks postpartum. And if you don’t feel strong enough to carry, please feel free to take part with your stroller.

What age group should my baby be? 8 weeks plus AND the minimum weight for your baby carrier. The class is aimed at carers of pre-walking babies but if your baby is older, as long as you are comfortable wearing them, you’re very welcome.

What should we wear? You should wear comfortable clothing. We recommend baby should wear 1 layer, as carrier counts as a layer and they’ll be picking up your body heat too. Slings or carriers are welcome but slings should not be stretchy fabric carriers as this may not provide enough support for this activity. We recommend you wear your baby inward facing for this class. The term is an 8 week course of 30min duration in Song and Dance Studios, a calm and light-filled space on College Street, Baldoyle.

Come Along and Join the Fun with your baby. No experience required. Just bring baby a supportive baby sling or carrier. And baby.
